Hawaiian Islands Unplugged Adventures
The Art of Letting Go: Unplugged on the Hawaiian Islands
There are moments in every life when the path forward suddenly becomes unclear. For me, that moment arrived not in a studio or gallery, but barefoot on the shores of the Hawaiian Islands.
I traveled to the islands to unplug from the hustle, social media, and the constant need to create, produce, promote, and repeat. I told myself it was just a reset, but somewhere between the crashing waves and golden light, I heard a truth I hadn’t let myself feel until then.

I was tired of the chase, both physically and emotionally.
For years, I built a career around momentum. There was always another launch, another exhibit, another collaboration, or another platform to conquer. It looked like success from the outside, but inside, I felt like a traveler chasing a horizon that never got any closer.
Unplugging on the Hawaiian Islands stripped away the noise. Without algorithms to impress or audiences to entertain, I was just… me. Sitting on Hanalei Beach with nothing to prove. For the first time in a long time, that was enough.

I spent my days exploring, photographing without pressure, and watching the sun rise and set.
In that stillness, I asked myself a question I had been avoiding: What if I stop chasing? What if the art I make doesn’t have to perform? It felt radical, but deeply right. I realized I didn’t need to quit being an artist, I needed to redefine what success meant on my own terms. I didn’t want to keep striving just to keep up. I wanted to create from a place of peace, not performance.

Since returning from the Hawaiian Islands, I’ve been walking a different path.
One that’s quieter and slower, but more meaningful. Instead of measuring worth in followers or features, I’ve allowed myself to rest, recalibrate, and create for the joy of it, not the demand of it. I don’t know exactly what’s next, but I know it won’t look like the constant striving I left behind.
If you’re reading this and feel that same pull to release the pressure and to step off the hamster wheel, let this be your permission slip. You’re not failing, you’re just waking up. There’s a whole world waiting for you when you let go of the chase.
And sometimes, the boldest move you can make is to stop striving and just be.
