Stephen & Rebecca’s Victorian Village wedding

On October 10, Stephen and Rebecca were married with a ceremony at St. John Lutheran Church and a reception at Victorian Village Resort in Elkhart Lake, WI. I was so happy to be their Victorian Village wedding photographer.

Rebecca told me how Stephen asked her to marry him:

“Our engagement story was very simple, but perfect for how Steve does things, haha! We were just at home one night watching TV and hanging out and I got up to get something from the other room and when I came back he was standing there with the ring. It happened the week before thanksgiving, which coincidentally was the same as when I met his family and we were official 2 years prior. Nothing elaborate with sky writing or anything, but perfectly fitting for us.”

I met Rebecca when I photographed one of her Matron of Honor’s wedding two years ago. It is wonderful to see such amazing friends stand up in each other’s weddings and remain such great friends since childhood. Rebecca is known for her sense of humor and ability to alway make others laugh. This was so true all throughout the day, it was a fun group, always laughing and having a good time.

I got the impression that the groom was always a very shy guy and certainly opened up once he met and started dating Rebecca. I loved the way he looked at her. The best man, Stephen’s brother, likes to find humor in all situations and he dropped the rings while the pastor was blessing them, just before they exchanged the rings. That got chuckles from the guests!

It was a beautiful fall day, and I loved the details that Rebecca thought of. For example, she wore one of her grandmother’s rings, which was a beautiful touch. My favorite moment was taking photos of the bride and groom in private, after all the formal photos were complete. They were so at ease with each other and made my job very easy. I particularly love the ones of them sitting in wood Adirondack chairs by the lake.
