Latin American Artist Otto Hernandez

I'm passionate about building community through storytelling.

Connections emerge each time I sit down to listen and share someone's story.  Storytelling through photography and the written word fulfills my lifelong desire to create work that matters.

Otto Hernandez was born and raised in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador in Central America.

At the age of 11, Otto knew he wanted to be an artist.  After turning 19 years old, this Latin American artist traveled to Brazil to study art.

While studying art masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt van Rijn, Otto discovered his passion for portraits.  Their style offered a spiritual connection between language and expression that inspired Otto to paint and draw portraits.

Painting and drawing are his favorite mediums.

Otto portrays the beauty and intelligence of women in particularly.  Through experimentation, Otto Hernandez continues to develop his individual style.  In 2019, Otto attended his first artist residency at Chateau Orquevaux.  The following year, he returned as a volunteer and the rest is history.

As a Latin American artist, Otto thrives on meeting new artists from around the world.

The camaraderie contributes to his creativity and many of his ideas are born from artists he follows.  He experiments with different portrait techniques while using a variety of color to express his emotions on paper and canvas.

Otto hopes to continue residing in France and his goal is to produce good work.  In the future, he hopes to travel through Europe.  He’s most enthusiastic about visiting Spain, Germany and Italy.  Otto appreciates the European culture and its support for the arts.  Art makes this Latin American artist the most happy.  While dreaming of living with art and teaching art to others, Otto also dreams of having a family one day.
