Build Community Through Storytelling in France

I'm in France so I can build community through storytelling.

It may have taken me longer than most to find my true passions, but once I began searching, I realized I was doing them all along. One of my passions is to build community through storytelling. A powerful moment happens when you realize you're doing meaningful work that you were called to do. Something special emerges each and every time I sit down to listen and share someone's story. Storytelling through photography and the written word fulfills my lifelong desire to create work that matters.

I arrive at the artist residency and I still have no idea what I'm going to accomplish here.

I'm ok with this because I understand that ideas happen when you least expect them. Obviously, I have plans to photograph and explore the countryside of France, but other than that, my itinerary is open. Painting and drawing are undeniable options while attending a two-week artist residency and I certainly plan do some of this, but I won't make them my main focus.

It wasn't until I began walking up to my third-floor art studio that it dawned on me.

The time has come to begin the interview process. I am in France to build community through the art of storytelling. Each of us has a story that needs to be shared and I'm attending the artist residency at Chateau Orquevaux so you can connect with others in a way that would otherwise not be possible.

I look forward to capturing these stories using my personal vision. Through the eyes of an artist photographer, you'll get to know these dynamic humans on a deeper level.
