Progress Not Perfection

Progress not perfection, it's my mantra.

Not only for this year, but every year moving forward.

2017 was a life-changing year for me.  Once I realized that my plan wasn't going as planned, I let go of all the plans.  God had a bigger plan for my life.  This process isn't easy, but we must focus on making progress, not perfection.  Making slow progress will always win over perfectionism.  Waiting for things to be perfect in order to take action will result in no action at all.  Let's make progress together, starting today.

A look back on how far I've come...

In 2017, I set a goal to have my new website launched by the time our third baby arrived.  Her due date of October 25th came and went.  We tried to wait patiently for her arrival, but understood that she wasn't ready to make her big debut.  Isn't that just like life?  We think we should have everything figured out by the due date.  Sometimes, things are overdue and we must realize that the best things in life are worth waiting for.

It's not complete and it's certainly not perfect, but it's progress.  To be honest, many days I feel as if I have no idea what I'm doing.  On the other hand, I have days that everything makes sense.  Those are the days that I make progress and become excited about the path I'm on.  In the past, my blog posts focused primarily on wedding and portrait photography.  As I continue to make this shift, my blog will become more like a journal.  A documentation of life's experiences, travel, art and the beauty we can find in the mundane.

I don't know where this will lead, but I know it's something I have to pursue.

I'm excited to share this journey with you, no matter where it may lead.  The journey is about progress not perfection.

What are you making progress on these days?
